YouTube is probably the most popular mobile app and desktop website for viewing your favourite videos, songs and more online. It gained popularity after smartphones started becoming affordable as well as popular. Now, the Google-owned web page has introduced a YouTube Breaking News section. Seven videos in a horizontally scrollable section will now be visible. These would include latest incidents from a common location. If you are staying in India and there has been an urgent announcement to link your Aadhar card to your PAN card, you would be able to watch it now.
Since this section is new and will take some time to populate, some users may not be able to see it just yet. It is also unconfirmed that will this section pop up over major incidences like the recent Barcelona terrorist attack or will it be a permanent feature. Although if you are the one who would want to keep YouTube only for video watching, there is an ‘x’ marked on the desktop site’s channel and ‘Not Interested’ in the three dots next to the scrollable tab.
YouTube has been one of the most popular online video streaming website as well as a mobile app. It has garnered over billions of users since its inception in 2005. YouTube was initially conceived as a video-sharing website by three former PayPal employees, Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim. It was later on bought over by Google, but, the basic concept was kept intact. YouTube over the years has become one of the most profitable verticals for Google.
