- ZenUI 4.0 out for four ZenFone 4 variants and ZenFone 3
- Bloatware apps have been reduced, speeding the performance
- Android O update expected in the second half of 2018
With the rollout of four ZenFone 4 variants in an event in Taiwan yesterday, the company announced that it’s ZenUI 4 will make its debut in all the four devices – meaning that these phones will run ZenUI 4 out-of-the-box.
The four variants of ZenFone 4 include Asus Zenfone 4 Selfie, ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro, ZenFone 4 and ZenFone Pro. The ZenFone 3 which was launched last year has also been included in this list. The Android O update for the listed devices is expected by the second half of 2018.
The previous ZenUIs contained a large number of bloatware apps without affecting the performance of the device. It took very long for Asus to realise that bloatware apps may or may not affect the performance of the device, but users do not like their app menu to be cluttered with default apps that may not use and are unable to delete.
Switching back to the ZenUI 4, the new ZenUI is said to be the ‘lightest Android UI skin to date’ by Asus. The company has reduced the count of bloatware apps from 35 to 13. If you think 13 preloaded apps are still too many, they include Twiter, Facebook, Facebook Messenger and Instagram, which you might be downloading after unboxing your device, albeit they not being in the phone.
