Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC, Nokia 8 will now receive Android 8.1 Oreo beta update as highlighted by the Chief Product Officer, HMD Global, Juho Sarvikas. The handset that sports a 5.3-inch display and is coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB inbuilt storage capacity, expandable via a microSD card (up to 256GB) will become the first device to receive the Android 8.1 Oreo beta update apart from the Google devices. The smartphone with a 13-megapixel primary rear camera and a selfie snapper of 13-megapixel carries a non-removable battery of 3090mAh.
On one hand, where many tech giants are failing to provide Android 8.0 Oreo update to many of their flagship devices, there HMD Global is coming up with the unveiling of beta update of Android 8.1 Oreo is definitely commendable and make it stand in a positive light in front of users. About 1.55GB in size, this beta build of Android 8.1 Oreo can only be downloaded via Wi-Fi and simultaneously, HMD Global has also introduced the latest Android security patch that was unravelled in January itself in the device.
Although, there are not many changes in this Oreo update, still, there are many alluring attributes of the Android 8.1 Oreo that can tempt users such as the optimized battery performance, Bluetooth battery percentage display, etc. Even the redesigned settings and the fixed hamburger emoji could appear enticing to the consumers. Unveiled by Nokia Beta Labs Program, Android 8.1 Oreo will now be tested on Nokia 8. Only time will show how much this testing turns to be promising. Nonetheless, it is clear that this year, HMD Global is not going to remain seated at the back, as Nokia has also sent invitations to the launch of many of its flagship devices at MWC, 2018, Barcelona.
