Samsung Galaxy Note 8 smartphone that was officially launched in August 2017 has been in the news for various good reasons. Adding to the same is its display screen that has recently secured A+ grade from none other than DisplayMate. Galaxy Note 8 features a 6.3-inch touch screen display with a resolution of 1440 x 2960 pixels. This is the first time DisplayMate has awarded an A+ rating to a display, calling it “the most innovative and high-performance smartphone display that we have ever lab tested.”
Just to enlighten, DisplayMate Technologies is the worldwide leader in video diagnostics and test patterns for optimizing, calibrating and evaluating all types of displays such as monitors, projectors, mobile displays, HDTVs, and all other display technologies.
Samsung has been making some of the best displays in the recent times, however, this stands-out of all the earlier ones. Prior to the launch of Samsung Galaxy Note 8, the buzz was on about it getting the best display, but it would be this good none must have thought. This speaks volumes for the advancement that South Korean electronics giant retains in India.
Below is the list of features for which Samsung Note 8 sets performance records:
- Largest Native Color Range: Owing to its new high-saturation “deep red” OLED, the phone display scores 112 percent for the DCI-P3 color space and 141 percent for the sRGB / Rec.709 color space.
- With 1,240 nits it achieves Highest Peak Display Brightness, which is 22 percent brighter compared to the Samsung Galaxy S8
- A score of 270 is awarded for contrast feature, which is the Highest Contrast Rating For Ambient Light
- With 3K (2960 x 1440, 521 ppi) it grabs Highest Screen Resolution
- Highest Contrast Ratio: Infinite
- At just 4.6 percent comes the Lowest Screen Reflectance, which is near to the lowest that DisplayMate has ever calculated for a smartphone display.
- Smallest Brightness Variation with Viewing Angle at 29 percent
In a nutshell, in nearly every testing type, the Samsung Note 8 was rated as ‘very good’ or ‘excellent’, excluding the Brightness Variation with the Average Picture Level category, which OLED displays are unable to precisely process using the existing technology.
