- Note 6 expected to have Snapdragon 636 chipset
- Note 6 Pro could have Snapdragon 660
From Redmi Note 3 in early 2016 to the expected Redmi Note 6 in mid 2018, Xiaomi seems to be running a marathon and isn’t feeling out of breath at all. From the bad camera of the Note 3, to the downgraded Snapdragon chipset from 650 to 625 in the Note 4 and the downgrading of the camera from 16MP to 13MP, Xiaomi improved and made mistakes too. But then came the Redmi Note 5 and Note 5 Pro in India this year. The manufacturer claims to have sold 3lac phones in the first sale only. The variants come with dual camera setup and the ever so powerful Snapdragon 636 chipset. A true value for money.
But the so far so good story doesn’t end here. Xiaomi has announced that its Redmi Note 6 will mostly be launched this year only. The exact date isn’t known and not much about the phone is known either. All we have are rumors and speculations. A lot or less might change in the upcoming phone. It is expected that the phone will come with dual camera setup on the back and there could be a telephoto and a color sensor that will help you to zoom 2X without losing any picture quality. If it happens that Xiaomi doesn’t give a telephoto lens, then the least they could do is include a wide angle lens to capture wider views.
The display of the Note 6 could be different as well for it’s the time of bezel-less display. But if Xiaomi would follow the herd is yet to be known. Also, a 6-inch display with 18:9 aspect ratio, a standard these days is being expected out of the Note 6. Coming to the processor side, its speculated that Snapdragon 632 or 636 will juice up the Redmi Note 6 as the 636 chipset is being offered in the Note 5 and Note 5 pro. The Snapdragon 636 was released in October 2017 by Qualcomm and offers a 40% faster CPU and a 10% faster GPU when compared to the Snapdragon 630.
The Redmi Note 6 Pro on the other hand is anticipated to come in a similar design and software. The main difference could be of the processor which could be the Snapdragon 660 and could be offered with 128GB storage and 6GB RAM. Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 6 is expected to be priced similar to the Redmi Note 4 and Note 5. The 64GB variant of the phone could be offered at Rs. 13000 whereas the 128GB maybe sold for Rs. 15000. The Redmi Note 6 Pro could fetch a price of Rs. 16999 for the 128GB 6GB RAM variant. In addition, the manufacturer may also bring to the market a Redmi Note 6 Lite variant that could have 3GB RAM and 32GB of storage.
Coming to the launch date of the upcoming Redmi Note phones, they could hit the shelves in December 2018 or early 2019. But then again, these are all just rumors and rumors aren’t always be true.
UPDATE:
The alleged Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 has just surfaced on TENAA (China’s equivalent to the FCC). This listing reveals both the phone’s specs and images, and it seems like the Redmi Note 6 will sport a notch, like many other phones out there these days. The Redmi Note 5 was announced at the end of last year, and Xiaomi tends to release two Redmi Note generations a year, so the Redmi Note 6 will probably arrive in the near future, which is why it got listed on TENAA.
If you take a look at the gallery down below, you will be able to see the alleged Redmi Note 6 from several angles. As you can see, the phone will be made out of metal, and its display will sport rounded corners, in addition to the aforementioned notch. A vertically-aligned dual camera setup will be included on the back of the device, along with a rear-facing fingerprint scanner. The device will sport a 5.84-inch fullHD+ (2280 x 1080) display, along with 2GB, 3GB, and 4GB of RAM, while those variants will ship with 16GB, 32GB and 64GB of storage, respectively. The device will be fueled by an octa-core SoC clocked at 2GHz, while the phone will come with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box, and Xiaomi’s custom UI on top of it. A 3,900mAh battery will also be a part of the package, while you will be able to expand the phone’s storage using a microSD card. 12 and 8-megapixel cameras will be placed on the back of the Redmi Note 6 if TENAA is to be believed, while a single 5-megapixel camera will be included on the device’s front side.
The Redmi Note 6 will ship in Black, Blue, Gold, Gray, Pink, Red, Rose Gold, Silver, and White color variants, says TENAA, while it will measure 149.33 x 71.68 x 8.75mm, and weigh 178 grams. It is still unclear when this phone will launch, it is possible that it will land on May 31, along with the Mi 8, but that’s not that likely, as Xiaomi will probably host a separate event for the device. In any case, the Redmi Note 6 is expected to launch in the near future, and chances are we’ll see more leaks soon.
