Xiaomi the Redmi 5A, “Desh Ka Smartphone” as an entry-level smartphone considering how inclined the Indian smartphone market is towards budget smartphones. The phone comes in two variants – 2GB RAM, 16GB storage and 3GB RAM, 32GB storage priced at Rs 5,999 and R 6,999 respectively. The company is offering Rs 1,000 discount on 2GB variant to first 5 million users in India bringing down the price to Rs 4,999.
To recall, Reliance Jio launched the JioPhone in India in July this year. The phone is a feature phone and was promoted as “India Ka Smartphone” at the time of its launch. However, the new phone is not a feature phone but runs on Android 7.1.1 atop MIUI 9.
Xiaomi Redmi 5A Price And Availability
The phone is priced at Rs 5,999 for 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage variant and Rs 6,999 for the 3GB and 32GB internal storage variant. The phone is available exclusively on Flipkart. The exact date of starting of the sale has not been disclosed by the company till filing of this report.
Xiaomi Redmi 5A Specifications
The Redmi 5A features a 5-inch display with a screen resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. The phone will be powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 425 processor coupled with 2GB or 3GB of RAM. The internal storage offered by the device is 16GB and 32GB storage that can further be expanded up to 128GB with the help of a microSD card. There are three card slots – two for SIM cards and one dedicated for memory card.
In terms of optics, the smartphone sports a 13MP camera sensor on the rear featuring an LED flash. There will also be a 5MP front selfie shooter. The device is backed up by a 3000mAh battery that is claimed to deliver 8 days of standby time, backup time of more than a day on moderate use and 7 hours of video the playback. The power charger shipped with the device can handle up to 3 power fluctuations.
