With Other OEMs including Nokia, OnePlus and Motorola announcing to roll out the Android Oreo update for their selected devices soon, Samsung has been quiet about it since the launch of update back in August. But, after a long silence, the South Korean giant has now a comment regarding the Oreo update for its devices on a Turkish news site.
Company’s Turkey branch has published a blog post stating that the update won’t land until early 2018. “Dear users, Our work on our pilot model for Android 8.0 (Oreo) has begun. We aim to present the new operating system to you at the beginning of the new year. What innovations will you find in our new operating system devices?”, said the post.
As per XDA Developer, Samsung is already working on a “pilot model” for Android Oreo and it aims to start rolling out the new OS update at the “beginning of 2018.” However, there is no information regarding the devices that will be getting the update, but one can be sure that the Galaxy Note 8, Galaxy S8, and Galaxy S8 Plus would be among the first Samsung phones to receive the update.
Some features that would come with the update include Night Mode, new emojis and improved notifications among others. Just today Nokia rolled out the Android 8.0 Oreo beat build for its flagship device Nokia 8. The company made the announcement in Turkey and not any other place means that Turkey may receive the update at the beginning of 2018 and rest of might have to wait for a bit more longer to get the update.
