Apple has just released a minor update, iOS 11.0.2, for supported iPhones, iPad and iPod Touches. This is the second update since iOS 11 which was launched last month and addresses minor bug fixes and the cracking audio issue as reported by some iPhone 8 and 8 Plus users. Also included in the update is the fix for the disappearing photos and issues with encrypted emails.
The iOS 11.0.2 update is available for supported devices including iPhone 5s and above, iPad Air (Gen 1) and above and the iPod 6th generation. To download the update, users need to head over to the Settings > General > Software Update and follow the on-screen instructions to update. Make sure you are connected to a Wi-Fi network and your battery is above 50% for a smooth update. It is also advised to backup your device using iTunes to make sure that no data is lost.
For the uninitiated, the “crackling sound” was reported a few days back and existed in both voice and facetime calls. Apple was fast enough to acknowledge the bug and promised a fix for the limited number of users who were experiencing the problem.
Here’s a video from Everything Apple Pro showing what has changed in the iOS 11.0.2 update.
Talking about the market performance of iOS 11, Apple’s latest mobile OS is just two weeks old and as per a report compiled by Mixpanel, it is already installed on 30.73% of supported devices.
