The release of Xiaomi’s much-awaited budget and mid-range smartphones – Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus has finally been revealed. Both the phones will be launching with the 18:9 display, that has become a trend these days.
Both the phones have been subjected to various leaks including pictures and few specifications to date. And now, China Telecom, a carrier in China has leaked complete specifications of the Redmi 5. The Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus will be launched on December 7 and the first one will be priced at CNY 1399 (roughly Rs 13,500) while we are not sure about the price of the latter.
The phone specifications have been revealed a popular tipster Roland Quandt on Twitter along with the price and launch date.
The design as seen in the image is similar to that of Redmi Note 4X. The changes that can are easily visible are thinner bezels on sides on the Redmi 5 that is expected to come with a full-screen design. The phone is seen in Gold colour and the audio jack and IR blaster is placed at the top of the phone. The USB port and speakers can be seen seated on the bottom of the phone. The volume rockers, SIM tray and power button can be seen on the left side of the device.
Xiaomi Redmi 5 Specifications
The Xiaomi Redmi 5 will feature a 5.7-inch HD+ display with a resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18:9. The device is expected to be powered by an MSM8953 Lite SoC. Some other reports claim that the device will be powered by a Snapdragon 625 SoC.
In terms of optics, the Redmi 5 sports a 12MP main camera sensor on the rear and a 5MP front selfie shooter. The phone may come with a triple card slot or a hybrid card slot. The phone will most probably run on Android 7.1.2 Nougat based on MIUI 8.5.1.1 instead of MIUI 9. The device is expected to be powered by a 3000mAh battery.
The device is expected to be priced at CNY 1399 (roughly Rs 13,500) and both the devices are speculated to be launched on December 10.
